Mantras to Soothe Your Inner Child

While doing inner child work, it’s natural for difficult emotions and painful, uncomfortable memories to surface.

In these tender moments, pause and take a deep breath. Notice what you are feeling and meet it with compassion and care. Place one hand over your heart and the other over your belly, and gently remind your inner child that you are here to love, guide, and protect them by using the mantras below.

“I’m right here. I won’t leave you.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll protect you. I’ll handle this.”

“It’s okay to be different. It’s okay to be you.”

“I’ll breathe with you until you are calm.”

“I’ll make this situation better for you.”

“It’s okay to be upset.”

“You are enough right now.”

“I see this is hard for you, and I am right here.”

“It’s safe to rest now.”

“You are safe with me.”

“I love you. You are deeply loved.”

“You don’t have to earn love anymore.”

“I believe you.”

“You don’t have to be strong right now. It’s okay to just be.”

“You are allowed to say no.”

“You are allowed to say yes.”

“You are allowed to change your mind.”

“I understand how you feel.”

“You are important to me. You matter to me.”

“You are a beautiful, brilliant being.”

“I see you.”

“You can breathe now.”

“I won’t leave you.”
